WHY ARE PEOPLE GIVING ANKIEL the benefit of the doubt!!!?

This is ridiculous!! People are going on and on about how he took them in 04/05 when he was a pitcher and they say he stopped and he legitamately hit those home runs this year Why don't I hear anything like that for Bonds (JERK!!!)? WHy do I still hear that he still takes steroids??? GIAMBI STILL HAS NOT PUBLICLY said "I took steroids"...he did everything in private AND YET people are sympathetic towards him. All he said was somethin like we as baseball players need to apologize or somethin like that, BUT HE NEVER PUBLICILY ACKNOWLEDGED HE DID IT So just because those two fools didn't break any records, they don't get the same amount of heat that A-hole Bonds gets??? I know HGH is undetectable and certain steroids/HGH supplements weren't banned back then, but still why when it comes to these BIG 3 in the spotlight, IDIOT BONDS gets a cold shoulder but people give the other two a chance to redeem themselves and hear them out??/ The second answer St.Louis... how do you know Ankiel stopped using steroids back then? how do you know he doesn't use them anymore? how do you know Bonds uses them now? the second answerer* Also Bonds has been hitting home runs since the day he entered the league (although more frequently since the mid 90s due to steroids) but Ankiel??? come on? how can a dude who was a pitcher pretty much for most of his career, turn it around all of a sudden, re-invent himself and suddenly start jacking out bombs there are a few exceptions to pitchers who can hit or hit home runs but Ankiel was never like that

Public Comments

  1. kepp in mind this bullshit started with the labor agreement in 2002 because the players demanded testing on THEIR TERMS! Jackass Selig agreeded to it and he has now ruined baseball for good. FIRE THAT JACKASS NOW AND GET A REAL COMMISSIONER IN THERE!!!!!
  2. I think Ankiel is being given more of a break because yes he cheated by using HGH in 2004 but then that was legal and he isn't taking them anymore so he gets more of a break. Bonds on the other hand, may have taken steriods and may still be taking steriods. Two very different cases. And the Giambi and Ankiel have said (or it has been found) that they took steriods/HGH but Bonds hasn't come out and said if he has (just said he hasn't which isn't believable) and he hasn't had any tests to show it.
  3. Because of racism. Funny how people make fun of Bonds and other athletes when they mentinon Racism. Now it is showing its ugly face. Dont forget HGH is not curently being tested for, so more than likely Ankiel is still using.
  4. As i stated before. Double standard & hypocrisy. I'm sure that many of Ankiel's defenders are the same hypocrites who bashed bonds for months.
  5. I don't give hime the benift of the doubt. If he took them he cheated. I don't make exceptions.
  6. i agree, its definitely stupid how that is. but people are always gonna hate Bonds because the media hates him. Bonds doesnt care about the media are what people think of him. i have a little respect for Bonds because of this because he doesnt play baseball just to please the media or other people. he plays for himself, his family, and for San Francisco. this is a case where the media shaping the minds of the public. these writers can write anything they want about a player. if the writer for whatever reason doesnt like a player, he can write something negative about him and it goes out across the country to readers who dont even really know personally who the player is or what the context of the interview was. this whole Ankiel and Giambi thing isnt fair when you really look at it, but thats how the media does it
  7. I'm not giving Ankiel the benefit of the doubt. I think it's very naive to think that during his bid to come back from surgery and prove himself at a new position that he stopped using HGH (a drug that is virtually impossible to test for) right when it was banned by baseball. Please. Since we know at one point he was using, I figure the burden of proof should be on him to prove that he's not still using. I will say that this ruins what was a great and inspiring story in baseball this season.
  8. If it was prescribed for his surgery recovery, im fine with it (which of course wasnt mentioned at all in the rant/question). If not, then he's a cheat along with the 80% of other baseball players. And then theres the race card, im still waiting for Jessie and Al to come post. Its funny, it was reported today, and people are asking why it isnt coverage like Bonds. Do you guys post the same stuff in each question for all the other MLB players that have been suspended that didnt get "Bonds like coverage"? I havent seen 1 article talking positively about it. But any chance to play the race card. Talk about Rick Ankiel like he's Barry Bonds.....whatever. Somehow comparing Ankiel to quite possibly the greatest ball player to play the game, is a waste of time. He'll get as much coverage as everyone else who got busted not named Bonds got.
  9. It does ruin the story. Bonds will get more hat because he's a moron and is about as unfriendly as they come.
  10. on the contrary Rick ankiel always was a good hitter even in the minor leagues as a pitcher and there are many exceptions to the pitchers cant hit theory currently the cards have a pitcher who hits very well and the former cardinal jason marqui hits very well .also the problem u have is pitchers dont hit every day and dont usually play an entire game so take out 4 of 5 games and throw a portion of inings that arent played and u see less numbers especially power numbers. but your wrong rick ankiel always made good contact with the ball, as for comparing to bonds read my gripe about ankiel . he was prescribed them and they were legal bonds was not precribed anything, yet I still sya bonds is one hella talented man to be able to see the ball and make contact with it especially with the power he puts on the swing. he definately deserves the hall of fame as with mark mcguire. rick ankiel is half the size of these two men and needs to be left alone especially while trying to remold himself back into the majors
