BEST moisturizer....and Laser Hair Removal?

What moisturizer do you think works well? I have very flaky skin. Even when I get out of the shower, everything just starts to peel like crap. I use Retin A micro for acne, and I've stopped using it for about 3 months, and the flaking hasn't stopped. So, what could be the problem? I've tried Olay, Aveeno, Bio Oil,....almost EVERY lotion around! So, if you could recommend any good ones, I'd REALLY appreciate it. For laser hair removal,...how do you know if you're a good candidate. Like, how dark does your hair have to be? Are burns often? Should I go see a dermatologist to see what they would reccommend? What was the place that YOU went to to get it done if you ever had laser hair removal? ****wow...i write a lot. lol. ANY ANSWERS WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED*** thanks for you time! =D ----Lisa

  1. why don't you try good old coconut or almond oil....works for me!
  2. try jergens.helps take away flaky skin.
  3. Buy Cetahpil Cleanser and Ceatphil Moisturizing lotion. My skin peels as well and gets so dry and itchy after a shower. During the winter I was in skin itch flake hell. It feels so tight too. The Cetaphil has completely stopped my problem..as long as I use it. Cetahpil is an ultimate. I felt like yelling "YESSS!!" when I tried it and it worked. You can get it anywhere. It's a well kept beauty secret! ;) Laser hai removal is good if you have very pale light skin and dark hair. It wont work if you have blonde hair and it wont work if you have dark skin. Otherwise, you should opt for electrolysis. Both are said to be very painful. :/
  4. Nivea Smooth Sensation works great on my dry skin. It's normal for your skin to be flaky for 3-6 months after you stop using Retin A. At this point you may need very emollient moisturizer. I would also recommend Trixera by Avene. They sell it at dermatologist offices and on line. I swear by this stuff, it's really amazing. About laser...You never can be sure if you are a good candidate. Ideally you have to have really light skin, no tanning at all and darker coarse hair. I' ve been doing laser hair removal for 2 years and honestly, I have a lot of patients who don't see results. If you really want to do this , I would recommend to wait 1-2 years for laser technology to get better, so you don't waist your money. Good luck!
  5. For laser treatments, I have brown hair and fairly light skin and it worked great. On the east coast they think I am a blond, but on the west coast I have brown hair. Anyway, the best candidate is definitely light skin, dark hair. I have seen middle eastern and Indian people get great results, however. The most important thing is to go to someone who has good equipment and is experienced with the laser. If they are good, your only risk of burn is if you get a tan between treatments and don't tell them about it. The attached site has a number of certified providers.
  6. Plucking (tweezing), Shaving, Depilatory creams and Waxing are temporary hair removal methods. Waxing usually lasts for 3 weeks, but it is painful. Electrolysis and laser hair removal are "permanent" hair removal methods but are expensive and you have to find a trained professional, otherwise your skin could be damaged.
