microdermabrasion or acid peel?

I have kind of red blotchy skin. Some of which is old acne scars although not the deep pock type ones, just red spots where acne had once been. What is the best way to even my skin tone and get rid of some of these scars? Which is better microdermabrasion or an acid peel? or something different? How much does the laser resurfacing cost(approximately)? Also the other procedures if anyone has had them.

  1. A glycolic acid peel is nice. It's a facial that smells like pumpkin-stings a bit when they apply it;but the technician gives you a little electric fan to keep your face cool. It usually takes about 3 facials to get rid of the "spots" . A microdermabrasion gets rid of the deeper surface scars to an extent. If you really want to have baby soft skin and get rid of the blotches try laser resurfacing. I had it done-my skin was smooth and even after I healed. There is a certain amount of down time and they do have to anesthetize you for the procedure;but, it is worth it. Consult with a plastic surgeon.
  2. I have had Microdermabrasion and know people who have had multiple types of peels and laser treatments. I was happy with my results. The right treatment really comes down to what you are looking to improve. A combination treatment plan is often best so go to a practice that offers multiple different kinds of options so that they can taylor the regimen to your needs. Microderm can cost $125 per treatment, chemical peels $100 to $250 per treatment and laser rejuvenation $250 to $500 and laser resurfacing $1.5K to $2.0K.
