Can banana peels be used for soil enrichment in a garden?
I was reading some article that banana peels can be used for soil enrichment. But how do I do it? After I finish a banana, do I simply toss the peel near the plants? what method should I use?

- Yeah you just put it on the plants. Cause the worms eat it then they poop and their poop is soil.
- I do that all the time. I get my garden sheers and cut them up. Bananas turn black after a day so you are not stuck looking at garbage as you would with say red peppers or whatnot. They blend right in.
- that will work, you can also start a compost pile
- YES!!! BANANAS HELP!! make compost with everyday food like cheerios, apple skins, bananna peels and just add soil then poor the compost mixture on ur plants you have to mix the ingredients thought
- I use a stick to scrape a shallow trench near the plant, put the banana peel in, and scuff dirt back over it with my foot. Or just push mulch aside, put down the peel, and scuff the mulch back over it. Nothing fancy.
- Start a compost bin and add peels to compost turning occ. After a few weeks add compost to soil. = MIRACLE GROW
- Well, what you are talking about is composting. With composting, you get leaves, grass clippings, and kitchen peelings and put them together in a bin. After a while of tumbling it (like about a few months), it becomes soil. This soil is better for your plants than other chemical fertilizer. This is natural. This is way better for the earth, too. Yay!
- Roses love banana peels. Spread them out near the root base.
- I cut mine up in small pieces, then throw them on the soil.
- Yes banana peels are great.
