Can hamsters eat orange peels?
I just got a hamster yesterday =D So right now I just peeled and ate an orange. I saved the peels, so that I could feed them to Sassafras. My question is, can hamsters eat orange peels? or can they at least chew on them?

- No hamsters cannot have any citrus. It is super harmful to them, I'd suggest looking up a list of approved foods for hamsters online. Nuts and cheerios are fine once in a while however if you just buy hamster food they will have all the nutrition they need.
- I know that oranges are poisonous to rats, so i would say that you probably shouldn't because hamsters are very similar.
- Absolutely NOT! Citrus is extremely toxic to hamsters and should never been given to them.No oranges/lemons/limes,etc.The internet is extremely helpful in advising what to feed/not feed hamsters.
- First of all, congrats on your new hamster. :) Hamsters should never eat any citrus fruits because they're extremely harmful to hamsters. They can't even have the taste of them, so you should not give them orange peels, oranges, or any other citrus fruits. Almost anything BUT citrus fruits is fine.
