ARE BANANA PEELS A GOOD SOURCE OF VITAMINS FOR PLANTS SUCH AS PLUM TREES?

My brother heard it on the movie 7 pounds. I was just wondering because we searched it up on Google and it said that a persons neighbor used banana peels on his or her roses and they grew fantastically.

  1. Yeah any organic material can be turned into compost that will greatly benefit your plants. Bananas in particular are a source of potassium, and potassium is a nutrient that plays a large part in the bloom quality of many plants. If you have a plant that flowers, or a tree that bears fruit, they could benefit from the high potassium. But you can't just stick banana peels under a tree, you have to make compost.
  2. I've heard the same thing, from people who grow some wonderful gardens.
  3. Plants have no use for vitamins. They all need proper minerals. Organic waste is one method to provide them.
