when my tattoo peels is the color supposed to peel a little bit?
I got the tattoo 4 days ago, but it is starting to peel. I notice that when its peeling..the color is on it... like I have green leaves and it peels dark green.. is that ok?

- definetly not sposed to have the color peel, if that happens chances are the rtist used a needle he used on someome else. see a doctor
- It will happen. Just make sure you don't help it along by picking or scratching at the scabs. If you pull them before they are ready you will pull color out
- yea its fine
- Yes...it's normal. You'll be ok. Are you putting anything on it? They should have given you this salve/vasalene looking stuff.
- Don't worry, you are only peeling off dead skin.It will be fine when it all healed
- yeah My tattoo did the samething its ok. its just a phase thing i was soooo scared when it happened i thought my ink was coming out but my artist said that its normal. that its like a scap where that top layer just peels off but they injected the ink so deep in your skin that it dont matter. hope this helps
- I think so. I don't have any, but I've had a number of friends who have, and all of theirs have peeled colored skin. I asked my one friend (whom I called Tat Matt... he had a lot of ink) if that was natural, and he said yeah, the skin always peels, and the color along with it...
- yes, some of the colour comes of as the skin peels. Use a antibacterial cream to avoid infection. Infection is the thing to watch. I use a baby cream, good for bums and good for tattoos. AND DON'T SCRATCH, GRIN AND BEAR IT ,AND THE RESULTS WILL BE AWESOME WHEN THE SKIN HEALS. Keep out of swimming pools for a couple of weeks. You don't want chlorine damaging the tattoo. Finally remember a tattoo is like clothing. The more sun, the more it will be bleached of it's colour. You can get them retouched up if this happens.
- Yes, its going to peel a little bit. Make sure to keep it moist with tattoo gue or something similar, dont take a bath, only a shower and dry it! but keep it moist and when it heals, it will be just as colorful as the day you got it.
- You might want to be careful with what you are using to help it heal. Alot of tattoo artists wil suggest a and d ointment. However, I have found that Burt's Bees Milk and Honey lotion works really well. You will lose some of the color when it scabs...but that is normal. just keep an eye on it and make sure you are applying either lotion or ointment to it regularly till it has all scabbed and peeled. Also dont scratch it or let it dry out tilll its healed.
- That is perfectly normal. You can't tell how a tattoo will look untill a few weeks after yo have gotten it. Most tattoo palars will do free touch-ups if the color fades or is off. Call your tattoo guy and see what their policy is on touch ups. There is no need to worry untill a few weeks after you get it though. Not to mention the color will fade with time.
- Yes it is normal. Check this site out...
- I have well over 30 tattoos and YES the color will flake a bit. Whatever you do...do not scratch or pick at it or else it will pull the color out of your tattoo. A tattoo is an injury and has had trauma. It scabs over like any wound and will flake the scabbing off. Some of the initial color will come off...this is normal. It should begin to itch soon and if it does, smack it. Sounds crazy but smacking it will satisfy the itch without pulling out the color. Apply a thin layer of Curel (non-scented) or Udderly Smooth (both available at Walmart or any other pharmacy). When you take a shower, do not rub the area with soap or the towel...pat it dry. It will flake for anywhere from a week to two. It will be fine as long as you do the above. =)
- yes. after it stops peeling and there is a significant change in the color of the tat, then go back and get it touched up
- yes... it's fine... the scab is just dyed the color of the tattoo ink...
- yep...when all 5 of mine peeled I could take off half inch sections that were exact replicas of that portion of my tattoo (yes I peel them even though you shouldnt...but i cant help it and I have never yet needed a touch up so I got lucky) but of course your going to get the colour off...its just the top layer...the colour goes deep into the skin so nothing to worry about...its perminant...its not going anywhere.
- yes this is normal i have 11 tattoos and my husband is a tattoo artist. as long as you are taking care of it properly then you have nothing to worry about.
- go back to the artist who did your tat and ask their opinion as to what is happening
