What is considering littering from your car? What is allowed? Can you throw orange peels?

I heard that chicken feathers and water are not considered littering, is that true?

8. Yes that is true, but you cannot go throwing chicken feathers from your car or you will get in trouble. The law was written so that people transporting chickens, will not be fined. Orange peels even though organic are still litter.
9. Generally, organic products like food, fruit peels, paper etc. will gradually dissolve and not poison the environment. But stull, why should you throw them out of the window, instead of putting them in you car`s ashtray and disposing them later?

11. this is a very good question I've taught my children not to throw ANYTHING out of the car or when they are walking or whatever. When we are travelling - I will wait until we can stop somewhere in the country (never the city) and we can get rid of apple cores, orange peel and anything naturally organic including water. But never anywhere in a city or town.
12. If you throw orange peels on the road it is littering. If they fly out the window and hit another vehicle, it is disgusting. If you throw orange peels, apple cores, etc, in the ditch, it is not littering, as it is biodegradable. Water is not litter obviously, but you can be charged with an offence if you throw water in such a manner as to hit other vehicles. Who would be stupid enough to throw chicken feathers out the window? Instead of worrying about what cant be tossed, why not just keep a litter bag in the car, and dump it in the bin when you fill the tank?
13. the next time You drive by a state trooper, throw some at him/her. You'll definitely know the answer for the particular state you are driving though...
14. Anything thrown from a moving vehicle is considered littering. Only when you are parked do the terms "biodegradable" and "environmentally friendly" have an impact on whether or not you get a ticket.
