How do I preserve an orange peel?
Well basically, I want to keep an orange peel from getting, you know, all bad, I want it to stay in a god condition and not rot for at least a week, how do I do that. Maybe it should be put in water?

- Try using some preservatives. E.g. Sodium benzoate, salt, sugar. If you can't get your hands on those preservatives, place it in an air-tight container with all the air removed, e.g. a Zip-loc bag, with the help of a vaccum cleaner.
- Do you just want to prevent rotting? Or does it have to stay moist? The easiest way is to let it dry out. I've airdried plenty of orange peel by just leaving it out, but try the oven on really low heat to make sure. My mom used to love keeping dried orange peel around for fragrance.
- Orange peel by itself wont go bad unless it catches mold. Simplest way to preserve it is a 3 step process; 1) Bring water to a rolling boil and put the orange peel in for about 30 seconds. 2) Remove the peel and drain as completely as possible. 3) Remove as much moisture as possible by dapping it dry with paper towels If you want to preserve the peel as soft peel - it can be stored in a plastic bag layered in papertowel in the refrigerator. If you want dry peel for storage, it can be dried in the shade or in the refrigerator.
