Weight loss and youth looking question?

I am 27 and I used to drink alot and smoke cigs. For the past year, I heard comments about looking older and Im sure that was due to the weight I gained and the tired, dehydrated look I had going on. I have since stopped drinking and smoking, have started eating healthy and working out, so will that help reverse the older looking and help with a more youthful look? I use also anti-aging moisturizers, wear minimal makeup once in awhile, etc. I dont have any lines or anything like that. Also, what are some good weight loss tips? My weakness seems to be sodas, Jimmy Johns sandwiches (with chips) and steak. Im doing my best to limit the intake of these foods. I am eating more fruits and veggies and drinking water. Are there any other tips as well? In regard to dieting and exercising? Thanks!

  1. yes that is good that you are taking care of yourself now. just keep up the dieting and exercising!!!!!!!!!!
  2. stay out of the sun, period. That is the best advice anyone ever gave me, years ago, and it worked. Also, be sure you rinse your face VERY well (leaving soap residue is horrible for your skin) Drink plenty of pomegranate juice (highest in antioxidants) Don't touch your face, otherwise. Use silk/satin pillowcases, and elevate your head when you sleep so you don't settle water there at night.
  3. I think is awesome you actually recognize that you were harming your health, and decided to do something about. You are definitely on the right track...keep eating healthy, and working out. That's key. I've been loosing pounds in the last 6 months. In the first week I lost almost 5. Knowing the following helped me a lot. If you really want to lose weight and keep it off, don't go to extremes. I also don't suggest loosing weight too fast,..is just not healthy and you will gain it back fast. STEP 1 - Know yourself. First off, don't compare your body with a celebrity or someone else. Learn what is your type of body (ectomorph, endomorph, or mesomorph), know your your ideal weight, bmi, how many calories should you be eating daily...Realistically set your goals, and have a plan. STEP 2 - FOOD A) Start by counting your daily calorie intake (..and don't cheat). I created a simple chart and always carry it with me...you must write down everything. Start off by reading and understanding labels of product you eat. You will be surprise on how many calories certain foods we enjoy have, and how long will it take to burn them off : ( KNOW CALORIES. First find out how many calories you eat in a single day. Then look for how many calories you SHOULD consume daily. To achieve weight loss you must cut down on calories. B) Avoid eating out as much as possible. And if you do, be prepared by knowing in advance what low calorie options are available. C) Get rid of junk food. Try to eliminate all junk food in you fridge and pantry (NOT BY EATING IT ALL...LOL). Get rid of the soda,..opt for coke zero at least, but try to have a minimal intake, since it still is packed with sugar. And when going for groceries, stay away from the snacks/sweets aile. And don't shop food if you are hungry. D) Treat yourself every know and then (in moderation please). By counting calories, you will know how many TREATS calories you have available. Try to make healthy and low calorie choices (My favorite low calorie treat is weight watchers ice cream and Pringles, light). STEP 3 - EXERCISE When it comes to loosign weight you should do cardio,.to get your heart rate up, and burn fat. Do at least 30min a day (running, elliptical trainer, jogging) Rember to do strengh training/weights at least another 30min. I work my abs 12-15mins and have been able to see great results...I'm toned, not quite a six pack yet...but I'm getting there. I try to workout 5 days a week. I initially started with 7 days a weeks (for three weeks) but at the end of the week I felt weak and worn out. By the beginning of the following week I didn't wanted to work out at all. So I would agree on not working out all week. Working out was hard for me since I wasn't a very active person. Now I am able to do things I was not able to do too long ago, I have more endurance...plus I feel healthier. Remember it is important to drink water. If you don't drink enough water and keep sweating once you hit the scale you will trick yourself in thinking you are loosing weight (fat), and you are actually loosing water. Plus if you drink water constantly your body will learn not to store water and you will loose any water retention. Whatever you decide to do, don't feel disappointed. And keep on working your butt off, it pays off. I hope this helps...it helped me. I wish you the best on your journey to becoming a healthier individual.
