tattoo getting brighter as it peels will it go back to bring dark?

I got a darkish red tattoo on my forearm. But now that its started peeling it like a bright red almost pink. I definately don't want it pink. Will it get darker with time and if so how long? Or do I have to get it touched up?

  1. I was told that red is one of the hardest colors to stay red, depending on the person. I suggest to go get a touch up. My husband got a tatto with red in it, and it isn't so red anymore!
  2. The color will change as it goes through the healing process. Peope tend to have an allergy to red more than other inks, so it could be your body rejecting it or it could just be a result of the peeling skin. You won't know until it's healed.
  3. If you're going to have trouble with inks, whether rejecting or having an actual allergy to them, red seems to be the most likely. However, from your description it's not clear if that's the problem. It might just be the normal healing process. Tattoos look terrible during that time, from roughly 4 days until 2 weeks or so after the tattoo is done. It's actually healing for some time after that, but the process slows. By one month the tattoo is generally done, the skin pretty much back to normal after three months, and as much as a year for the ink to fully settle in with subtle but important differences. Long & short is to wait until at least 2-4 weeks before you make any decisions. Drop the artist or shop who did the work a line if you have any specific questions.
