What can you do with fresh orange peels?
Made marmalade, have a buch of orange peels, that smell so good, what can I do with them?
Public Comments
- put them in your garden to keep cats out make potpourri
- make a tropical ice tea. just cut the peels into strips and throw them into a pitcher of iced tea. You can also use them as a twist to garnish a favorite coctail
- You could cut into strips and dry it for pot-pourri. You could candy them (kinda like making marmalade but no orange juice or pulp). You could make a buncha zest and squeeze out the orange oil with a press and keep it in a bottle like extract (who knows, maybe if you make it into an extract with some alcohol it will last longer.)
- Could put them in fresh water for some kind of medicinal treatments, or put them in your rooms to make the insects go away and kill the bacterias.
- I cut up into smaller pieces and throw it down the garbage disposal to freshen.
- Dry them and make your own potpourri. You could also put them in a small pot on the stove with water and let them simmer on very low heat to give your home a fresh clean smell.
- GRIND THEM UP AND PUT THEM IN A CAKE TASTE DELICIOS
- I usually put those and lemon peels in the bottom of the waste basket in the bathroom under the plastic bag as it smells so nice when the shower heats up the room. I also grind some in the garbage disposal to freshen it. You can also cut into strips and freeze them to use later if you need orange zest ( works great using the grater and frozen peels!).
- Throw them away
- make yur own potpourri
- you can put them around your house where ants come in,, it will stop the ants,,,, or put them in boiling water and make your house smell good,,,,
- GRIND THEM UP IN YR GARBAGE DISPOSAL
- If the white pith is removed, you can candy them-- Once upon a time, this was a real treat--prior to frozen foods and easily obtained groceries from a local store. My grandmother made this every winter for Christmas. She was born in 1881. old home receipe-- heavy skillet (iron is good), granulated sugar and the peel cut thin in strips. Dampen the peel-- lay one at a time in the hot skillet with the sugar--the sugar will liquifey-- cook and stir until peel is translucent-- then roll in fresh granulated sugar, placing on racks like used for cookies to cool. Sounds strange and may be a learned taste but I like them-- same with grapefruit peel. Remember sugar burns terribly-- because it sticks to your skin-- use tongs, please. enjoy
- put it in front of the fan or air condition to give you a nice and orange scent.
