What can I do about my neighbors dog barking at night?

Its not only that it barks, but I feel like they don't take proper care of the poor thing, and that is why it barks. They leave it outside in extreme weather all the time. It is chained up 24/7 and the chain is VERY SHORT. It has no room to exercise or play at all. They never pay attention to it and I think the reason it barks is because its freezing outside at night. I think the dog deserves a better home, is there anything I can do?

  1. Call the humane society.
  2. buy a shotgun... then use it...
  3. kidnap it and bring it to a shelter....or call humane society.
  4. Ask if you can walk it once and a while. Then one day free it or give it to one of your Friends. Or Go buy a dog house and give it to them. Or shoot the dog and put it out of its misery. either way do something. Let freedom ring for this doggy yayayayayahaaaaawooooka.
  5. Your best bet is to call the local animal control. Most cities have laws surrounding the ways you can keep animals outdoors .(Shelter, temperature restrictions, proper tie-outs, etc.) You could also file a noise complaint, and the owners could decide to find an alternative place for the dog.
  6. throw him a big steak with some sleeping pills
  7. In a friendly way I would talk to the neighbor the next time you see him and without being ugly tell him you have a problem with the dog barking.
  8. For the barking try this . . . . My Mum's neighbour had a dog that just didn't shut up so I called and emailed EVERY dog training groups, organisations, no-bark trainers, advertisers of no-bark collars etc who dealt with dogs and asked them to send (in the mail) 'me' information because 'my' dog barked' too much (I made 86 phone calls). However, instead of giving them MY details I gave THE NEIGHBOURS name and address. I also contacted their local council and got them to send 'me' information too (about legal responsibilites etc) - again directly to the neighbours. I think they got the hint as about 2 weeks later the dog settled and my folks could get a good nights sleep again. As for the inappropriate care - call the RSPCA (or the best organisation for dealing with cruelty in your area). At the very least they'll come out and do a welfare check which may be a wakeup call for them too.
  9. I really think you should call the aspca,If the dog is barking all the time and the leash is too short thats animal cruelty. Ive called them before when i've seen stuff i didnt like .They come and check it out always. You would be helping yourself and that dog.
