My mom was prescribed with Human Growth Hormone, should I be worried?

She is diagnosed with something called "growth hormone deficiency syndrome", and given the prescription. But then I hear and read all this stuff about HGH being banned from pro sports, so that means it must be bad for you, right? Does this doctor know what he's doing? or should we be talking to a lawyer?

3. The doctor prescribed it for what he thought was a legitimate reason. Unless she's doing it to gain an unfair advantage in sports, I wouldn't worry about it. Athletes use it to enhance their abilities, usually unfairly. They want to win more than they want to play fairly. In those cases, the drugs weren't prescribed by a doctor.
4. the doctor should have explained to you the reason for the treatment and the possible side effects. from what i know, if prescribed correctly, HGH can be beneficial to some medical conditions, though i'm not sure about the side effects. i'm sure there is a lot of information on the web regarding this matter, so look it up.

6. In moderation, Growth Hormone is actually the fountain of youth. It allows older people to have a better quality of life.
7. My doctor says that HGH is mostly amino acids......it's not illegal for the average person. I would trust her doctor on this one and not worry about it. It's not like steriods.

10. The difference is that a doctor has run tests and is prescribing a dosage for her condition. Plus I'm sure that he will run additional tests, but you could always get a second oppinion or go to the FDA's or AMA's website and do some research. But I think the doctor has probably done some research as well and I would hope that he has your mom's best interests in mind.
11. No problem. You're illustrating a common misconception. HGH and Steroids have LEGITIMATE MEDICAL USES. Steroids help with healing from injuries (thus why they're popular with athletes and wrestlers as they get older). HGH can help with hormone replacement AND ease problems from steroid abuse. If your Doctor prescribed HGH for your mother, I'm sure he had a good reason.
