Do you think that China is deliberately trying to poison those who import their products?

I find it hard to believe that in this day and age that they do not realize that putting anti-freeze in toothpaste would be harmful to those who use it. I find it hard to believe that they are unaware of the hazards of using lead in inexpensive kid's jewelry (http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=12638571&ft=1&f=1001) and painting young children's toys with lead based paint (http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=11253580) http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=12441681) and tainting our animal's food with a substance that has proven dangerous to our animals. I'm going to shop a lot smarter. I realize that it will be difficult, but I'm NOT going to purchase products made in China. Not only because of the things they've been doing recently, but also because I feel that if I buy from China that I'm condoning communism - after all individuals in China do not benefit from purchases, the government does.

  1. Its not that they don't realize, they just don't CARE!!! They aren't just poisoning us, they are also poisioning themselves. People have died in China due to thier neglect. Please update us on your no shopping Chinese. I believe it will be difficult and pricey but would really like to know peoples experience with it.
  2. I think it could all be part of a master plan. China managed to take alot of our jobs away, saying they can make the stuff cheaper than america, which is probably true. What worries me is what this could do to our stock market once public outcry swiftly ends trade with china.
  3. Like Lotus Phoenix, I think they don't care. It seems the Chinese think they can get away with this by blaming the American media. They have done terrible things to their own people as well. A few years ago, there were some children around age 12 who were killed in an explosion at a fireworks factory in China. The reason they were there, and not in school, is because their parents put them to work there because it was too expensive to send them to school. If you can't even educate your children free, what is the point of having a communist government?
  4. Yep, I think they are to.
  5. you bet ye.
  6. So from the tone of your post, I assume you think this is state sanctioned? Nope, sure as hell isn't. It is being done by a few unscrupulous businesses that don't give a damned, not by the government that does give a damned. If that was not the case, then China wouldn't be arresting and jailing, fining, shutting down, etc, these businesses and making it abundantly clear, China will not tolerate that. You really think, considering that China exports 21% of their exports to us, that they wouldn't give a damned? That defies common sense, the defies reason and that is just plain scare tactics and dumb. Peace Jim .
  7. Thanks for this post because often times we need to be reminded of our safety. I feel the government should have stricter regulations on imports. We don't have a say in what is shipped over to this country, they do. I had a boss tell me that just in cereal alone up to 14 bugs are allowed to be put on the shelf in the cereal we eat. That s*** is disgusting who the hell wants to eat bugs. Yet we do because WHY?. The government says eating bugs is o.k. since they want remove them from the box. All I can say is be careful.
  8. You have a tough road ahead. Good luck.
  9. i believe they do not care, as long as profit can be made who cares. not just China in general.
  10. China should get it together soon before their trade is badly damaged. Also, please remember that these products are being made for US and other big distributors. These companies also must make sure that their products are safe.
  11. One way to slow your competitor down is by telling consumers about their bad products. I personally think the US doesn't want China to become too much of an equal competitor in the business world. After all, China's crude oil demand is said to increase over the next few years. So I question why we're suddenly exposing China's unsafe toys, when they've been importing them for years. You just have to wonder.
