How can I stop my face peeling?

I got a really bad sunburn on my face (well, also everywhere else) but my face started to peel today. I knew not to pick it, so I didn't, but when I took a nap today (this is going to sound really gross/weird, I know, but please bear with me) my little sister picked at it like crazy, (I'm a heavy sleeper) and so when I woke up like my forehead had little pink spots, and I'm afraid it's going to scar. I also do not want to go to church tomorrow with a peeling, ugly face. Is there any way I can stop this?? Please help!! All serious answers are appreciated.=) Will vaseline for diaper rashes help?

  1. lotion
  2. drink lots of water and use good face creem
  3. Unfortunately, a sunburn peel is one of those skin things you just have to ride out. But there are ways to minimize the peeling and speed the healing process. For during the daytime, you are going to need a really good moisturizer. I've had good experiences with CeraVe moisturizing lotion (recommended by my dermatologist as a good general moisturizer that also won't make you break out.) Here is a link: http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=162033&catid=151&brand=49240&trx=PLST-0-BRAND&trxp1=151&trxp2=162033&trxp3=1&trxp4=0&btrx=BUY-PLST-0-BRAND Now, for evening (while you sleep) you can use something a little heavier to speed the healing and moisturize even better. For that, you might want to try Aveeno Ultra Calming Night Cream (link: http://www.aveeno.com/productDetail.do?prodid=4311) which will also help the redness because it contains feverfew, known for its ability to calm irritation and redness. Or for night time you might try instead something even "heavier" if your burn/peeling is really bad (I have used this when I've had extremely dry winter skin that just won't go away, and it helps) - Acquaphor Healing Ointment. (link: http://www.amazon.com/Aquaphor-Original-Severely-Treatment-Ointment/dp/B000FKJPE2) This will be stickier and not as comfortable to wear as a lotion, but it is meant for really really dry skin and therefore is heavier. Now, if you are interested in getting rid of some of the dead skin that is peeling off your face, you may also want to try a peel like Philosophy's Microdelivery Peel (link: http://sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P72504&shouldPaginate=true&categoryId=3866) I have used this tons of times, not just for dry skin but for lots of skin issues like roughness, dullness, etc, and it works wonders. Your skin will feel smoother after one treatment. It's a bit expensive, but worth it! (one package lasts about 2.5 months if you use it once a week as directed.) Now, if you don't want to buy that given the cost, or if you aren't into doing an actual "peel" then you could try this instead: Aveeno Skin Brightening Daily Scrub (link: http://www.aveeno.com/productDetail.do?prodid=3876) which will also help you to exfoliate some of those peeling dead skin cells. Again, all of the above will help (I've used all of the above products at various times for dry skin and other skin concerns and they're all good stuff), but as mentioned, it's going to simply take time for your skin to completely heal from the burn so don't expect miracles in a day or two. Next time you're in the sun you should definitely wear a sunscreen and moisturize right after you come inside. Too many sunburns will have you looking old way before your time! :-) Good luck and I hope this helped.
  4. Apply natural moisturizers on your face like virgin coconut oil. Polynesian people have been using virgin coconut oil for their skin to protect bad sunburn. You can get it from ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130207962041
