  1. YES. Leaving your laptop on hibernation will cause a loss of more than 1GB within your hard drive and other problems such as freezing and locking up your laptop. When you put your laptop to sleep, you are simply saving the state of the computer and restoring it on demand. All open applications in memory will be temporarily suspended, and then re-animated when you start up again. The problem with this is, certain applications have memory leaks. Usually these leaks are very small, such that you would not notice over 15 hours. Over time these leaks grow and they begin to hinder performance. Shut down your laptop when you're done with it. . .It's for the best. . .
  2. I normally leave mine on overnight...plugged in of course....just make sure you have good ventilation and it should be fine. There are 2 schools of thought when it comes to this subject. Some say leave workstations on 24/7 and others say turn off overnight. I leave mine on and haven't had any issues thus far. PS, don't use standby or hibernate.... they cause problems.
  3. You should always have the battery on when you're going to use your laptop for a certain amount of hours unless you can't reach an outlet.
  4. It's probably dusty on the inside... Get a can of compressed air and blow out all of the ducts on the side as well as you can. If it continues, then look for instructions online how to take apart your laptop for maintenance(this wont void the warantee) and use the compressed air inside there. The computer is most likely heating up because of too much dust. So just cleaning it out would do wonders.
  5. It is not bad for it. They have built computers lately to be able to withstand being on for many hours and days. Now what is good for your computer is to have a restart every once in a while so that it can actually quit all the programs, even the ones in the background. This helps sometimes when you feel it is getting a little sluggish. But it more then likely won't help in your crashing issues.
  6. It's not really "bad". But it might leave heat marks on a table if it is left in the same spot. Suspend and Hybernate modes aren't that great of a feature - best just to use the "Monitor off" part of the screensaver if you need to leave it running. You can password protect on resume if you are worried about prying eyes. Personally, I always shut down my laptops when I'm not using them. PCs are a different story.
  7. no it can stay on for ages without causing any problems make sure it is in a cool place with plenty of air circulation. download windows XP Manager to clean up your system
  8. I got a free laptop from this site, I highly recommend it!
