What breed sounds good 4 me?

I live where the weather is warm but not too hot, but does get quite cold in winter (not freezing temps) have a medium/big fenced yard, live next to a park. need a dog that isnt a naturally yappy dog, and can be quite quiet when im away at school, but i will come back in lunch brakes. a dog that dosnt need human attention 24/7 but does show some affection. cna live with cats or grow to live with them. not a large dog, medium or small. love dogs with long coats. or 'fluffy"

  1. Sounds like a great place for a cocker spaniel.
  2. poodle
  3. You need to do more research into whatever breeds interest you, but for a start, how about a Shiba Inu? They do better than most dogs being independent and not needing to be right next to you 24/7. Generally good with cats (though still probably need some training). Medium size. Don't know if you'd consider it fluffy, but it does have medium-length fluffyish coat. Isn't yappy. Does well in cold.
  4. Well educated maltese: you need to train him so he doesn't develop the yappy thing.
  5. a chow would be good
  6. Quiet, not naturally yappy, not needing human attention 24/7 but affectionate... sounds like you could use a basset hound!!
  7. Siberian Husky .
  8. Sheltie...they have wonderful dispositions!
  9. lab
  10. Try a Labrador Retriever. Probably one of the most loyal and obedient of all breeds. Very easy to train and very manageable .
  11. Pug or a Mini Schnauzer I was just curious. Someone is asking for an idea, and regardless of what what suits him/her, I don't see the point in coming here giving everyone thumbs down. Does it make you feel good? Does it give you points? I didn't think so. Someone seems to me to be taking advantage of the thumbs down thing.
  12. To be honest small or medium dogs tend to bark more and need more attention and are more active. I love dogs and can think of a hundred great breeds. But really I would like to ask you to adopt one from the pound or a puppy rescue. I love border collies.. yes they have tons of energy but when they get older they can be very very calm. they can turn it on and off on a dime. They are smart as all hell. Still they need to run every day. This could be as simple as playing fetch or Frisbee. If you get 2 they will play with each other all day and only stop to eat and drink. Again there are tons of great dogs, Golden retrievers, Collies in general, LABS rock OMG I love Labs but they will also need to run and don't turn off like collies. I don't know if you think these are too large but really those are my first choices. There are also a bunch of small dogs that may work.. Basset hound, Beagle, Terrier ohhhhhh a Cocker Spaniel might be perfect for you. Anyways stay away from the devil breeds American Eskimo , German Spitz, Pomeranian, Chihuahua, Pekingese. Seriously I love dogs to death. If I could I would get rid of those breeds. Yes they can be fine pets, but most likely they will be a nightmare. You sound new to dogs and no first time dog owner should get one of these. Really no one should there are so many good breeds why bother with a devil breed. In response to your additional information... Small fluffy doges are terrible. I guess you could go with a Husky, but they are very active too. So your best choice is a Collie. I just know you are the type to want a Toy Dog, don't do it. THEY ARE TERRIBLE.. I know you didn't hear me so let me repeat. DON"T DO IT THEY ARE TERRIBLE. Get a fluffy stuffed animal and a dog that doesn't suck. DON"T Get one of those small fluffy dogs. Why do I think you won't listen.. Ugggg. Well they say dogs are like their owners.. So i am guessing you will get one of them, and guess what they won't listen, they will need tons of attention and will drive everyone but you nuts.
  13. Sounds like you are looking for a toy breed dog. You could consider: *Bichon Frise *Maltese *Shih Tzu These dogs have long and fluffy fur which you can cut short during warm weather :) Small dogs(e.g. chihuahua) wouldn't be too suitable coz they require lotsa attention in terms of care.Hope this helps!
