Steroids versus HGH in Baseball: Why are the players "defending" HGH usage?

MLB players seem to taking the stance that HGH is just for healing, it doesn't enhance performance. Isn't using HGH is cheating just the same? Briefly explain... Doesn't using HGH to shorten your normal injury rehab seem like cheating?

Public Comments

  1. Only the ones that have been caught using have that opinion. 1 part denial mixed with 1 part guilty conscience. .
  2. HGH is like drinking milk
  3. The baseball players are trying to do anything they can to sway public opinion. HGH and steroids can be used in some instances when prescribed by a Doctor. This is not the case here. Sorry Andy I think your great but you are full of it here. If yo were using it to recoup with a legitamit doctors ok then fine but this is not the case so own up to what you did
  4. There has been alot of talk about this whole situation, but I haven't seen many people go deeper into exactly why these players are taking either HGH or Steroids. I can't speak for each individual players, but for the most part I'm pretty sure the guys who took steroids took them to get stronger so they can hit with more power. The guys who took HGH most likely took it to heal up from injuries faster, so they don't get a reputation of being injured too long and too often. So they can keep playing and making more money. After all, nobody wants to sign an injury prone player. However there has got to be guys that have also taken HGH over a period of time to get stronger, the same reason some players have taken steroids.
  5. Anabolic steriods are and have been illegal, but HGH I don't think was a federally banned substance. Hence, technically, the players who used HGH weren't really doing anything wrong except breaking moral and ethical rules.
  6. you say cheat they say heal .... who's to blame???? oh the greedy owners who turned a blind eye (bad owners)
  7. don't let the Pettitte statement fool you HGH is cheating. The players can take that during the offseason and lift weights 4 hours a day 6 days a week w/o their body feeling the effects of it. While it may not promote muscle mass like a steroid the purpose of using it is pretty much the same.
  8. Steroids has been illegal in the game of baseball longer then HGH. That is one reason. Also, there is no test to check for HGH usage so if players can defend that they can go on using it. But with steroids there is tests.
  9. What people forget and fail to realize.....there is a reason as to why the human body feels pain. It's a good thing. It tells you there is something wrong. Steriods can enhance, but I believe it also helps to dull your sense to pain. So, instead of waiting 3-4 days between sets of curls, to bulk up your biceps, you only have to wait a day cuz the soreness in your muscles goes away quicker. I believe HGH's "healing" qualities are along the same lines. Cheating is in the eyes of the beholder, HGH may not be performance enhanceing but it dulls pain.....which in essence is cheating in the worst way...the human bodies need to recover on its own. Put if it isnt performance enhanceing, which I dont quite believe, than technically....no, to answer your question. This is all my own opinion and I am not a doctor.
