My rabbits eye is not right. I dont know what to do?
My little 18 month old rabbit developed what i belive to be an eye infection on monday of last week however i was off to London the very next day and left it to my mum. She has been bathing the eye every day and she got some antibiotic cream for her eye however it just seams to have got worse. The top of her left eye was very red and swolen and now its swollen more and now on the upper eye lid where you would put eye liner on yourself has gone black and pussy... I am extreamly worried i dont want to pay for a vet for them to tell me what i all ready know, mainly because i dont have any money can someone help me please.

- take it to the vet
- If she has free access to hay, it's possible that she got poked in the eye by a stray straw. This is common in guinea pigs and rabbits, and needs medical attention.
- Oh... i saw a kitten that had the same infection. but your bunny will be ok if you take him to the vet. by the way, the kitten's fine now.
- go to the vet if you see his/she eye is go to a vet before it gets worst.
- Try using a boric acid solution to rinse the eye. You can find it in the pharmacy section of mostly any store. It is used as an eye cleaning solution for humans, so it is safe to use on your bunny. Simply hold the rabbit safely and securely. Squeeze 3-5 drops onto the eye. Let the rabbit blink a couple times to ensure that the solution gets distributed around the eye. Then gently wipe away any residue with a warm wet cloth. Repeat once a day as necessary until the infection is gone. I have used this method for eye infections on cats, kittens, dogs, adults and baby rabbits and it has worked really well! Usually only takes about 3 days for it to clear up! Hope it works for you!
