Glycolic Acid Peels Knowledge Base
Are Glycolic Acid peels bad for people with sensitive skin? I am 21 years of age and still suffer from acne. I suffer from nodules and pustule acne. I have been reading stories about people buying Glycolic Acid peels for acne. I have sensitive skin and was wondering if the peel would be too harsh for me to use. And does anyone know of any good websites that sell affordable glycolic peels?
Where can I buy glycolic acid peels? As in what store can I buy one? About what percentage is good for some pretty harsh hyper pigmentation? Any personal experiences? What should i expect? and any additional information.
Glycolic acid peels every night? What would happen if you did a glycolic acid peel (35%) every night? Would it damage your skin or help it? On the bottle it says don't use more than 2 times a week, but just wondering.
Where to get Glycolic Acid peels? I have some acne scars and uneven skin tone and someone suggest I get a glycolic acid peel. Are there any good over the counter ones for acne-prone skin or where could I get one done at, and what is an estimate of the cost? -Thanks :)
What are the effects of having a Glycolic Acid peel? I'm getting a series of Glycolic acid peels soon, and I was wondering if anyone has had any personal experience with this? Were there a lot of side effects after the peel? I don't want it to destroy my faaace!
Different products for at home glycolic acid peels? I have slight acne scarring and wanted to try our an at home glycolic peel. I want a reliable product, I dont care if its a little pricey. One that I have seen is the Estee Lauder Perfectionist Peel 2-Step Enzyme Activating Treatment, but I dont know if that would help reduce light acne scars that can be hidden for the most part with makeup(new scars). Help, thanks ! :D
What is the difference between glycolic acid peel and alpha hydroxy peel? What is the difference between glycolic acid peel and alpha hydroxy peel? I have had an 10% alpha hydroxy peel which was pretty strong and I had to rinse it off after 10 minutes (doctor recommended). I'm having a hard time finding alpha hydroxy peels. I'm finding quite a bit of glycolic acid peels, though. Not sure what the difference is. Thank you!!
Glycolic Acid Peels? Does anyone know what stores sell glycolic acid peels rather than buy them online?
Does anyone know anything about glycolic acid peels? I have started a course of 6 glycolic acid face peels (have had 2 so far). I have them done by a nurse. The first was 10% strength for about 10 minutes and the second 20% but for just 4 minutes. What I'd like to know is what kind of results I might get at the end of the course ( I know this varies) - has anyone had a course of these and were you happy with the results? I'm having the treatments as I have mild acne - I tend to get only a few red spots at any one time - my major problem though is blocked pores - I have these all over my face. My skin is smooth but the pigmentation is slightly uneven due to past blemishes. also, my skin is worse today than it has been for a while - would you expect it to get slightly worse initially, with this type of treatment? Hope someone can help - thankyou :)
glycolic acid? ihave very bad pigmentation rond my face due to pregnency and sun damage ,now i want to use gycolic acid cream 7%for two weeks than peeling glycolic acid 30% at home after ,what do u think ? thanks
Nothing happened post glycolic acid peel? I ordered a 50% glycolic acid peel online with a pH of 2.0 and have used it twice so far. I felt the burning both times. Both times there was minimal redness initially which went away immediately. There was and has been no flaking or peeling. I did notice that my skin felt very hard and dry right before I used it the 2nd time. But it is not what I expected. Will it get better with repeated use?
How often should I use a 25% Glycolic Acid peel? I have always had slightly oily skin but this winter for some reason it is incredibly dry and flaky and I am even getting pimples for the first time! I have a wedding coming up in less than 3 weeks and want to look my best. How do I go about this? (I started using all natural products about 2 months ago, so that may contribute). Is an acid peel a good idea or not?
Glycolic Acid? I currently have been using a product that contains 8% Glycolic Acid and I really love this stuff! It works very well. However, I know that you can purchase stronger products online. In fact, I know that you can purchase the product that they use in the salon when you go for the 'acid peel' treatments. So I would like to hear from anyone who may have tried this application at home and how it worked and what you used. By the way, I'm not referring to shady back door products...I'm referring to legit products that are being sold all over the place. It's just I will pay 5 times more to get the treatment done in the salon vs paying online.
uneven pigment - photo facial? peel? Glycolic acid? What to do? I have always had great skin, though in the last few years I have noticed some discoloration (darker areas/some red areas), and fine lines. I assume the discoloration is from sun damage. I am 38 and have very fair skin with olive undertones. Is there anything I can buy and use at home that will make a difference? I know that a photo-facial or peel would help, but I don't have the funds right now for that. What is my best low cost option? Anything tried and true? Thanks.
What is a good sunblock that I can use after glycolic acid treatments? Anybody know a good sunblock that isn't greasy, shiny, heavy, or irritating that I can use on my face after a glycolic peel? I tried Neutrogena and it felt heavy, made my face really sensitive to irritation, and made my face more oily than usual. If there's something that I can use to make sunblock less irritating, please tell me also.
Anyone have experience with glycolic or lactic acid peels for hyperpigmented acne scars on your back or chest? I've already had one peel on my back for my hyperpigmented superficial acne scars, and I'm getting my second one this Saturday. I think she did a glycolic/lactic acid peel, and there was definitely some sloughing of skin after the first 36-48 hours. It didn't peel a whole lot, but she said this time she would do a more intense peel since I reacted so well. Only thing is, prom is the Saturday AFTER my peel, and my dress is strapless, so I don't want to have a whole bunch of gross peeling on prom. The peeling the first time only lasted about 2 days but she said that next time I get a peel it'll work better and be more aggressive. Can you please share your experiences of your chemical peels in the past, how many you had to have to fade your scars, and how much it peeled the second or third peel you received?
Glycolic Acid peel for scars? How much does it cost to get this profesionally done because I'm scared to ruin my skin if I try it myself. How effecetive is it? It's for scar on my legs. thanks in advance for your help and advice. oh yeah the scars are not new scars
safe to buy and use glycolic acid at home for acne scars? I called a local dermatology place, they told me they they charge $80 for one treat of "skinmedica" which is a glycolic acid. I also found some glycolic skin peels on ebay for 30-40 bucks, im not sure what i should do, any ideas?
Acne glycolic acid peel? I have moderately bad acne. It's a lot better than it used to be, but it's still there. My mom the other day (I'm a16 year old male btw) was talking to a friend of hers who works at a salon that does facials and all those kind of things. and my mom told her about my acne problem, the lady said she could do a "glycolic acid peel" that would remove most acne and most acne scars. and mostly the only thing wrong with my face now is the scarring from previous acne, so this sounded like a darn good idea to me. I did a little research on the topic and well it said that the only downside to the facial peel is the fact that it can leave redness of the skin for a few days afterwords. Well I'm thinking about getting this done on Saturday, and Sunday is me and my girlfriend's 1 month anniversary (haha) and she is leaving for Jersey for 3 weeks after Sunday... and of course I want to look my best... if I get this treatment done on Saturday will my face look like utter crap the next day??
Hi! I have pitted scars adn I wanna have some glycolic acid peels, can you recommend me a place to do that? I am trying to find a cheaper place.. until now 50$/ session is the cheapest but considering the fact that I need about 6 sessions I would like to find something cheaper but that is still safe.. can you give me any ideas please? Thank you so much! Thank you strawberry, I wanna do that (go to a dermatologist/spa) but I want a recommendation about a lower price as money is the issue... Hi Raymond and thank you for your answer! My scars are like little holes, people usually mistake them for very large pores (actually I also have huge pores..) and the ones that bother me the most are on my cheeks. I think they are called pitted scars :). Then, I have used vinegar but tell me again what is the exact name of the one you used, maybe I didn't try the best one. I am already using retin-a but because of my other skin condition (seborrheic dermatitis) I cannot apply it on my cheeks where most of the problems are.. I already had a chemical peeling and my skin improved so so much after this one but the effects lasted 6-7 months then the skin went back to it's problems, maybe because I have very active sebaceous glands => dilated pores, bad skin..
help for glycolic acid peel? i want to make glycolic acid peel can any one help which other things have to mix with glycolic acid to make it quick dry when it put on face?i will be thanksfull.

I am 16 years old, and have really oily skin and a number of acne scars on my face and back. i want to use the glycolic acid but dont know if i should start with 20% or just get the 35%. Also, is it any different if i get the liquid instead of the gel peel? my mistake, the first is salicylic acid gel peel.
General questions about Glycolic acid facial peel at home.? I'm planning to buy the glycolic acid to do the chemical peel at home. I'm planning to buy the 70% glycolic acid, and dilute it myself. 1. Do I just dilute it with water? 2. Can I dilute more at once and store it in the bottle for later use or should I dilute only one time use? 3. Does the regular plastic travel size cosmetic container good for storing glycolic acid? Or, should I use the glass instead? 4. I'm planning to buy the syringes for more precise dilute measurement. The syringes are plastic material with the rubber stopper insider, is it safe? Would the glycolic acid melt it? I have acne prone combination skin. T-zone are oily in summer, and starting to have acne on my cheek. I really don't want my face to peel, I don't mind to do the peel gradually, or a mini mask type of thing everyday. 1. What percentage should I use to start with? 2. Anyone done any body peel? What percentage do you use? 3. how do you make the neutralizer with baking soda?
Professional glycolic acid peel--at home? I recently found out that professional-grade (or so it says) acid peels are available for home use, and after ready many, many reviews of people doing it on their own, I've decided that I'd like to try it for myself (since professional peels just aren't practical for my college student lifestyle). Are there any skincare professionals or people who have used home peels such as http://www.amazon.com/Glycolic-Acid-Peel-100ml-Professional/dp/B000PR4F9K/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2?ie=UTF8&s=hpc&qid=1201193921&sr=8-2 who can tell me how to go about it, and any other product I might need? I've heard a few things about neutralizing the skin afterwards--some people say to do it with water, and some say that you need to buy an actual neutralizer. Can anyone point me in the right direction with this?
Skin Peels (DCL Glycolic acid)? I have some acne scarring and my clinician has advised a course of Glyclic Acid treatment. My skin is also congested and ageing. Has anyone tried it and would you recmmend it, as I don't want to end up with more scarring etc. Also, if you can recommend a clinic in Birmingham, UK or, in London.
Glycolic acid peel - help!!? Hi We bought a 35% glycolic acid solution coz they said it will help with strong exfoliation of skin. we tried it once on the face but it left some open sours and tiny bleeds - like the one;s u have when u scratch too hard. does this mean were allergic to it were leaving it on too long?? the pack says 3 to 4 mins then wash - thats what we did...
Glycolic Acid Peel....? I have quite a few post acne marks (red spots) all over my face, so I have been using a 30% glycolic acid peel, It does work to get rid of the spots, but a day or so after the peel I feel bumps under the skin (new pimples forming) I can't use any acne medication though cause of the sensitive skin. I only apply hyaluronic acid moisturizer (non comedogenic). The new pimples leave new red spots, so it's a a pointless process... has anyone else experienced this, if so how did you get around it? Will taking antiboitics help until my skin heals so that I can use a cleanser/acne medication again to prevent new breakouts?
differin and salicylic/glycolic acid? I went to the dermatologist because I have recently developed acne. She put me on Differin and Erythromycin (one night Differin, the next night the other). I told her I wash my face with a salicylic acid gel, then tone with a 2 % salicylic acid toner, and finally moisturize with Loreal Pure Zone step 3, which contains salicylic acid. Then I wash again with the cleanser gel at night, and once a week I do an at-home 10 % glycolic acid peel. She said all of this was OK, and I should keep doing it. But I got my Differin today and read on the package that it should not be used with glycolic or salycilic acid producst. What should I do? by the way, the differin is a topical gel, not the pills. so is the erythromycin.
Glycolic acid cream for skin pigmentation and fine lines - please share you experience? I have been give Retin A(Tretinoin) for skin pigmentation. Can 20% salicylic acid peels cause keloids? I used L'oreal's Renoviste (10% glycolic acid) before for acne scars and it was okay but I do tend to get keloids (ear lobes and chest) so I was a little worried about getting them all over my face! What about using the peel for the back? I read somewhere that the upper back and shoulders are prone to keloids?
Can you recommend me a good EXfoliatoR - acid peel or scrubs? I am using a glycolic face wash both in the morning an before bed every night. I have tried using microdermabrasion exfoliating scrubs once a week but they just give me pimples. Should I try a weekly peel like glycolic acid at-home peel or use a gentle exfoliating scrub??

Okay, how does this glycolic acid 30% skin peel work? My gf just bought one from the internet...? but we're too scared to try it on... anyway... it comes with a brush, a bottle of acid, and instruction saying that we have to have sodium bicarb to rinse the acid away... Is it safe? Do we have to dilute the acid more? with water? distilled wwater? I browse the internet... and found some horrible testimonials after using at home glycolic acid treatment... What is the safest level of glycolic acid? Where it won't burn your skin?
Glycolic peel? Hello! I had a glycolic acid peel 30% yesterday and today my skin is so dry and hard and peeling and irritated....does anyone know what i can put on it to heal it or to bring it back to normal?? I need help!
Question about Glytone Mild Gel Wash and Glytone glycolic facial peel? Today I went to my dermatologist and received a glycolic acid peel using Glytone products. I was wondering if anyone has had this particular procedure and whether it successfully eliminated acne. The Dr. also said something about Glytone Mild Gel Wash (which contains a tiny, tiny amount of glycolic acid in the wash) By using this everyday, i could rejuvenate my skin cells and have a mini glycolic peel each day. Just wondering if anyone has used these products for acne or got a glycolic acid peel and if they have helped their acne?
DIY Facial Peels? This is my second time asking this question, hoping someone can help me out! I found out that professional peels such as http://www.amazon.com/Glycolic-Acid-Peel-100ml-Professional/dp/B000PR4F9K/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2?ie=UTF8&s=hpc&qid=1201193921&sr=8-2 are now available for in-home use, but some of the testimonials mention something about neutralizing the skin afterwards. Some say they did it with water, and others did it with a neutralizing product. Does anyone know which is better, or if they each can work?
Microdermabrasion v Peels? What is the most effective for getting rid of very fine lines: microdermabrasion or glycolic acid peels? Has anyone had them? Did you see a difference?
Can black women recieve TCA peels? I have post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation from acne scars on my face and body. I'm light-skinned and I want to remove them, however, my attempts with Glycolic Acid peels and microderm have been unsuccessful. Can I use TCA peels on my skin or will it cause more scarring. I'm looking for reponses from dermatologist or plastic surgeons.
Does glycolic acid helps to reduce stretch marks? glycolic acid is a chemical skin peel, it can be used to remove the outer layers of the skin, thus forcing the skin to come up with a new skin layer, If apllied over stretch marks, depending on the concentration of the acid, our nutrition, drinking lots of water and using cocoa butter and baking soda to neutralise the acid after apllied, i wonder if they can disappear?

Is this true? Where can i get one.... any at home products i can use.... or any cleanser, peel or mask that contains glycolic acid? Thanks in advance! Also how much does the peel cost?
Glycolic Acid - what is safe amount to use in a peel? I have seen some up to 50% strength for sale on ebay, do it yourself kits, it's a little scary to think of doing this on my own, though... what is a SAFE amount to use that will not cause the burning and extreme peeling of a peel, but still does some good for the skin?
glycolic face peel? i have been using a no 7 glycolic face peel and although it seems to make my skin softer it doesn't seem to do anything else. i have seen gycolic acid peels on the internet for sale are they safe? and what is the % mean? what do i need to start with?
I have back acne and acne scars, which is the best peel for it: glycolic, salicylic, or lactic acid? I really want to get rid of it after I've tried almost everything I could do at home. I've used Proactive, drink lots of water, have a relatively healthy diet. Now I am resorting to a peel. Which one is the best peel to get rid of this? I also have 2 wart-like bumps under the skin on my back with a bluish center (I'm thinking its not harmful, since my dad also has some on his back all his life, what is this and can it be treated with a peel? If not, what is the best way? Thanks! I would prefer nice, detailed, well thought out answers for the perfect solution. Thanks. I did read information before on the peels, but I just wanted information either from a professional or someone that has tried it first hand. Thanks!
Glycolic Peel "at home" ?? Hi, I'm in Europe for a while where it's legal to buy real glycolic acid in pharmacies. I'm hoping someone with experience on the subject of facial peels will answer my question. I'd like to do a glycolic peel at home. Since I can buy products between 3% and 70% glycolic acid ~ what should I start with?? I have small, faint discolorations all over my face from years of acne (no raised or indented scars though). Also, if I try to apply it evenly, there shouldn't be much risk with peeling certain areas deeper than others right? Yes, I have read quite a bit on the subject and am aware there will be stinging & redness for a full evening afterwards. Thank you for any sound advice!!
